There are some situations in life for which I have no response. If you have some, please comment. Oh, and I am opening up comments for anonymous users as well (can you tell I am trying to encourage commenting?)
Back on subject: when I go to the gym, the person at the front desk says, "Have a great workout." And I nearly always reply, "you too.... I mean... thanks... I guess." Yeah, they're going to be at that desk for the next few hours and I just told them to have a good workout too. Granted, it's 6am, but every time?!? I've got nothin'!
Also, in preparation for a flight in the next week or so, I was thinking about the dreaded get through security part of the flight. When I was coming back from the Dominican Republic this spring, I seriously felt like somebody owed me a dinner after all the security checks! Anyway (my ADD is kicking in again... ooh! shiny stuff) I was in the security line one time with my coffee in hand. I thought I could manage all of that for some reason. The guard told me to take my zip up hoodie off- so I held my coffee in one hand, and grabbed the middle part of the jacket, and threw my arm behind me to pull the hoodie off. That's when it happened: my hand made contact with the fleshy part of the person behind me. I turned around quickly, spilling my coffee (which was hot) everywhere, only to realize that I punched the guy behind me in the stomach. He was recovering from being sucker punched while I stood there saying, "uh... I am so sorry..." Again, nuthin'!
Next post I will tell you about when I answered my door at 1:30am with pigtails to two cops and all I said was, "Can I help you?!?"

A Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Every year as March rolls around, I get more and more excited... the anticipation... the emotion... the excitement... the joint contractures... the need for bathroom breaks... No, I'm not talking about my birthday (March 3rd), I'm talking about MARCH MADNESS!
Today as I was laying on the couch watching the UNC game, I was reminded of how much I love the game of basketball and the drama of the tournament. I also have some traditions I thought I would share with the cyber-world:
-I watch the first Saturday of the tournament in one setting. I distinctly remember two years ago when I could hardly walk after 9 hours of sitting on my friend's couch. Don't worry- breaks are allowed for bathroom and food prep.
-Speaking of food prep, during the games, I only eat things that end in -itos, such as doritos, cheetos, fritos, burritos, taquitos, and new this year.... mojitos!!
-I fill out my bracket (and usually my mom's as well) and keep track throughout the tournament.
I already have my final 4 teams picked out... I've begun the scouting.
Let the games begin!

True love
Mom: "Amy, sorry I didn't get you anything for Valentine's Day this year."
Me: "That's fine, did you get anything for anyone else?"
Mom: "I got two cards: one for your dad and one for me from your dad. It's really quite nice. That way I won't be upset if he doesn't get me anything."
Happy 30 and a half years Mom and Dad!!

The Deleterious Effects of Sound Machines
Here's something I've been pondering for awhile (Caution: rare but dangerous look into my mentation ahead):
Every night before I go to sleep, I stop and consider what 'sound' to fall asleep to or whether to use the sound machine or not. I really have to think about this decision as it could influence what kind of dreams I have that night.
Do I choose white noise? songbirds? running stream? waterfall? summer night? ocean waves? baby rhinos dancing?*
And I ALWAYS choose ocean waves. But then the other night it struck me: could this cause ocean side narcolepsy?
Does my unconscious really cause that oceanside stupor I feel whenever I am laying oceanside? And really, is this something we should be using regularly to fall asleep? Just think of the ramifications of using 'morning traffic' as a sound on your sound machine!
*This one is not real, but made you think didn't it?

Slips, Trips, and Falls
Here it is: my new blog. I've already had to start over once, so I suppose that is par for the course.
I have decided that this blog (for personal and professional reasons) will not involve anything about my profession as a Physical Therapist or anything that involves my job.
That being said, I am starting my blog with the subject of something that is not in any way funny in my line of work, but I think inherently funny in life: slipping on the ice.
Now there are many methods of slipping... the oh-so-funny feet over the head slip, the arms wildly flailing method, but then there is my favorite: the groin ripping splits. And you know you have experienced this if you have ever thought to yourself, "I think I just ripped something... namely my hamstring, perhaps my pants too."
In college, on icy days my friends and I used to sit in the cafeteria and play, "Where will s/he bite it?" Then it progressed to what body part they would fall on first (nobody was seriously hurt at the expense of our maniacal laughter). I like to think of this as the "Head, gut or groin?" game of America's Funniest Videos.
And don't even try to claim you don't watch AFV because people getting hit with the pinata bat in the groin is inherently funny.
