Versatile

Last week at this time I had just finished my last hip hop class.

This week?

I just got back from my first bridge lesson. And let's just say that game is FUN!

Hip Hop Parte Tres

Our class has literally halved each week. And this week, I had to stand in the second row! Which was the back row!

Last week, while we were dancing, she yelled, "Shake it." And the CD started skipping. One girl in the back shouted, "Sorry- that was me! I was shaking it too hard!"

Basically, our moves are 'shake it', 'get jiggy with it,' 'wiggle it', and 'walk it out'. That should help your mental picture of the moves, right?

At the end, our little group went up to the instructor for a personal tutorial of the booty bounce. She was giving us instructions and then she said, "You guys were pretty good. I was watching you." I replied, "You probably shouldn't do that."

And you know what she said to that?

"Believe me.... I've seen...... some things."

Hip Hop, Part Deux

In order to be more prepared for this week's Hip Hop class, I went to Step Up 2 The Streets on Sunday with my friend Laura (and in doing so, just called Laura out on my blog- hey oh!) We went up to buy the tickets and this conversation took place:
Me: Two tickets for Step Up 2
Ticket Seller (TS): We don't have that movie anymore.
Me: Are you sure? It's still up on the screen.
TS: Yeah, are you sure you don't mean Steep? I've never even heard of anybody go see Step Up 2.
Me: I read well. Thank you.
TS: Oh! Here it is, it's just that I've never heard of anybody going to see that movie. Nobody has ever asked to get tickets to that movie.
Laura: (Turning a weird shade of purple) Dude, just give us the tickets. YOU'RE NOT MAKING IT ANY BETTER.

I have received some questions about what kind of apparel this type of class requires. I was going to wear a child-sized sports jersey, but decided against it. If you're a guy (and believe me- there is one) you apparently wear ill-fitting sweatpants (read: too tight), a t-shirt, hi top shoes, and your feathered mullet.

But tonight went much better. I was able to get the 'booty bump' down better. Read that again. Okay, we can go on.

Four more weeks left, and then we will be having a recital. My mom has already agreed to provide punch and cupcakes.

(Additionally, one of my friends asked what songs we danced to. I said, "that apple bottom jeans song." He said, "Amy, that song is called 'low.' Never call it anything but again.")
