Work in PROGRESS!

I was able to hang with my dad and husband all day Monday and work on this little (buy one get ten free) project! We are building a walkway to the place where we park our cars, so my awesome amazing intelligent wonderful dad is helping us do just that! We are using paver blocks that match our retaining wall so that the yard looks great!
But I still think my favorite part was being able to be with my dad. He is such a great example of the love from my Heavenly Father! We devised a new way to get these blocks into place and before we tried it, dad said, "Okay- either one of two things is going to happen. It's going to work... or it's going to break the stone." It worked! We high-fived and moved on!
More to come....
This weekend: working on the sidewalk AND tile for backsplash! Stay tuned! (and come help us)

The Wall

This is how it started! We just finished this big project and are so happy! And when I say, "we" I mean the wonderful guys we hired to have it done. I think it turned out pretty good, huh?

Four days later:
Thank goodness for reliable and ethical guys who came and did this for us! Mike just finished painting the doors for the house (since they were primed but never painted- ugh!) and is installing them now! Off I go for more housework! :o)

Progress!

The closet is getting closer to being done! My parents came over and mudded and sanded and chiseled and sanded and mudded some more. Then, I painted it all white after my mom put a stain sealer on it and she then came back and painted it green (green apple quickstep as my dad calls it!). Eventually ,the whole room will be this color and the trim white (in an ode to and inspired by Emily- and trim should be white!)

This is the nasty yucky corner from before:
My dad put up trips for us to hang shelves on:
Also, my parents bought me this for my birthday:

It was all done in an effort to get rid of the broken grate (on the left) in the kitchen.
So to sum up, my parents are amazing and we could not have done this without them. Love you guys!
Next up: backsplash in the kitchen and white trim in the dining room!

Home Projects!

Wow- it has been over a month since my last blog post. So sorry!

We have been working on a few projects over the past few months here and in an effort not to be overwhelmed by the number of projects to accomplish, I am going to share what we have already accomplished.
So let's start with the current project. I wanted to just put some shelves into the closet. A little demo later and we found plaster over wallpaper (it doesn't work well trust me). So, now we are in the process of taking all of that out to mud the whole thing to put some shelves in!

Notice the beautiful wallpaper choices!
Now on the the finished projects: I found this awesome buffet on craigslist and thought it would work perfectly in our house! It did:
And we painted the upstairs hallway red and bought this armoire to store laundry supplies in! The picture is crooked, but so is the floor, so go figure!
Also- special shout out to my mom (pictured above) and my dad-- without whom we could not do any of this!
